Our comment policy

Comments on articles are the lifeblood of any publication: they give readers the opportunity to engage in lively conversations about the issues and events that are important to them. Through comments, articles can be fleshed out and expanded, drawing on the knowledge, passion and insights of readers.

We encourage comments and, at present, are not moderating them. But we do have standards.

We expect civility in comments, and that comments add something to the articles. We will not hesitate to remove comments, or portions of comments, that violate ethical or legal standards, or that are in poor taste.

A final note, those leaving comments must leave a real, verifiable e-mail address. If the e-mail address can’t be verified (and we do check), the comment will be deleted, no matter how good it is.
